Service Description

Southwest Montana has an abundance of colorful rocks, soils and clays. Students will learn how to process these materials into pigment that can be used to make artist’s materials. The class will make pigment drawing sticks and watercolor paint for 2-dimensional work. This paint can also be used as surface decoration and glaze on high fire ceramics (examples will be shown, but we will not be doingthis in class). Each student will go home with the paint and pigment sticks they made in class.
