Handbuilding (2024 S2T)

Service Description

Handbuilding is designed for both beginners and intermediate level students. In class we introduce and expand on ways to create both functional and artistic forms in clay using your hands as the primary tools. Attendees will experience strategies for forming clay including slab building, coils, pinch pots, slump and hump molds, and templates. We will also explore different ways to embellish and decorate pottery including carving, stamping, underglazing, decal application, and using found objects to imprint on clay. Experienced students will focus on improving and personalizing techniques, discovering individual styles, and adding to your skill base.
